Audio Books Make Perfect Nannies For Busy Parents
When our first child was a young toddler, my wife would read books to him almost on a daily basis. Each evening, I would hear her reading books to him by Dr. Seuss, “The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh”, and my personal favorite, “Snug House Bug House.” Then, as two more children came along, my wife and I got busier, the stress of the added financial burdens and responsibilities took over, and the night time story-telling just ceased to be a part of our children’s lives. As the kids got older, instead of reading them books, we just found it easier to play them DVDs, which is kind of sad in a way, as the parent-child engagement and interaction in this situation is just about non-existent.
Then, we discovered audio books. Once we started playing audio recordings of children’s stories to our kids, a new and more positive parent-child dynamic was introduced into our household. Although playing audiobooks is not the same as sitting down with your kids and actually telling them a story, audiobooks for children stimulate a different part of their brain and engage them more deeply than if they were just sitting in front of a video, a DVD or watching plain old television.
Audio books for children are not only a great way to get your kids away from the television for a few hours, but these exciting and educational alternatives to cartoons and video games are especially designed so that children can exercise their imagination while their favorite story is being narrated. Downloadable audiobooks for children are also an ideal form of entertainment, because you can go online, choose from a wide variety of titles and have access to them without leaving home. Many great audiobook titles, including classic fairy tales, popular books and adventure stories for children and teens can be downloaded to your computer, then burned to a CD or uploaded to an MP3 player.
