Just like a snowflake or a fingerprint, every child is unique in their own special way. Each and every child has their own individual way of feeling, thinking, and interacting with other people.

Some children are reticent, while others are assured; some are full of zeal, while others are relaxed; some are petulant, while others are laid back. As a loving and nurturing parent, it’s your role to prompt them to accept their uniqueness and celebrate their individual qualities.

You must allow your son or daughter to express themselves through their interests. They may find a stimulating channel in drama, singing or photography, or they may show talent in the sciences or sports. Help them to embrace what they like to do, what interests them, and what they enjoy. Help them realize that they don’t need to be troubled about being ‘the same as everyone else.’

Help your son or daughter to make constructive choices, and congratulate them for good acts, manners and positive qualities they hold. Inspire them to actively participate in their community, and let them take part in activities that aid an awareness of joining forces with others and achievement.

Be resolute yet even-handed when chastising for misdeamours or bad behavior, and make sure the rules and outcomes for breaching the rules are clearly explained. Show a supportive, caring and united line with your partner when it comes to discipline.

Acknowledge and toast your daughter or son’s uniqueness. Always remember that your son or daughter is an individual. Permit your child to have his or her own personal preferences and feelings, which may be quite different from your own.

Lastly, help your son or daughter to be true to themselves by doing the same. Display to your son or daughter how to make positive choices with the choices you make, and that no one is perfect and every body makes mistakes. Teach your son or daughter that mistakes can be a great learning occurrence, and that they should not be ashamed or mortified about making them.

Remember to lead by example. Be the very best role model you can be for your son or daughter.
