A Young Artist Stresses Out Mom
Take a little bit of wax, add some pigment, and wrap it all up in a paper sleeve. Presto - a crayon.
Most children learn early in life that crayons are fun. Not just choosing from the many colours possible, and the satisfaction of seeing their finished art, but the absolute thrill of hearing mommy and daddy gush over their little artistic creations.
Most children also learn early in life to apply their growing sense of logic to this form of art.
“If mommy is so thrilled over this little tiny piece of paper”, so the child thinks, “they will go absolutely bonkers when I do my first mural.”
And where is this huge mural? Why, the hallway wall, of course!
The next step is very confusing to little Johnny. Mommy gets upset with them.
Grandpa Richard, from Grandpa Richard’s Kids, urges you to think carefully about what your little one’s “logic” is telling them. If small is beautiful, then big is gorgeous. Help them to understand your concerns at their level. Or, maybe just make sure the crayons are washable and encourage them to do all their artwork on one specific wall.
Your child’s logic will “grow up”, so try to downplay the “mistakes” they make and enjoy your children, as they are only young once.
