Remember the fable about the turtle and the hare? The turtle won because he started early on during the race and didn’t waste any time resting like what the hare did. We can all learn an invaluable lesson from this childhood bedtime story and practice it on our daily lives, especially when it comes to finding holiday presents.

Sure, the holidays may not be for several months more, but it would be wise if you get a headstart and write down your Christmas list now. Starting early always has its perks. And think about this, too: you know that it will come sooner or later, so it is best to be prepared. Besides, you have all the time in your hands to do it, especially during the summer when school’s out.

First on your list would be your parents. What should you give your mom and dad this year? You have to take into what you have already given them the last couple of years to avoid giving them the same gifts. For your dad, you could give him some great golf gifts. These are a bit on the [spin side, but you have months to save up for it. For your mom, you can give her a nice new pair of earrings or a bracelet. She will surely love it.

Don’t forget to include your siblings on your list. For an older brother who will soon be going off to college, you could get him a stylish computer briefcase. He is sure to bring his laptop along with him during his classes, so he will need a bag to place it in. For your sister, you could give her a pink Swiss Army knife. This is very a handy tool, not only for men. When emergencies arise, your sister would be glad that she has something that is useful and still has a feminine look to it.

When you have finished up making the list, you can start shopping and checking out the prices of each item. This will give you an idea on how much you need to save before the holidays. Who knows? You might get lucky and buy these items when there’s a sale.
