NAME, The National Association of Marriage Enhancement, whose national headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona, will unveil its Marriage Mobile for the national media in the Nation’s capital. (PRWEB) April 23, 2005 -- NAME, The National Association of Marriage Enhancement, whose national headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona, will unveil its Marriage Mobile for the national media in the Nation’s capital. Many inner city and impoverished rural communities are underserved when it comes to marriage strengthening services. The Marriage Mobile is a 48 foot semi tractor/trailer, retrofit to serve as a rolling counseling center and marital education classroom. The Marriage Mobile will travel to these hard to reach communities, where social pressures are often tearing marriages apart, and conduct marriage and communications skills workshops, provide free pre-marital workshops, couples-in-crisis counseling, anger management, communications skills, money management workshops, and advertise upcoming marriage skills and strengthening programs. The four color decorated side of the Marriage Mobile, with large graphics and images of couples provides for a fine photo-opportunity. Tours of the interior will be provided. In order to encourage States to strengthen marriages, Congress stipulated as part of the 1996 Welfare Reform legislation that the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant to states be either directly or indirectly related to promoting healthy marriages. Some states created fatherhood or parenting programs. Arizona created a Marriage and Communications Skills commission and allocated $1 million of TANF block grant money towards Marriage and Communications Skills programs. NAME was one of pioneers of this program being selected as one of the program providers by the State of Arizona.
